Horse age and retirement

Age is counted in in-game days, not years. Starter mares begin at 60 days. Breeding is documented from day 12 through day 180. Foals become yearlings on day 12 and adults on day 20.

The roster has an Age column, and broker listings in screenshots include horses at 26, 67, 97, and 124 days. The studio FAQ says a horse can retire or be removed over welfare, and either outcome takes the horse out of the game. The day count that triggers retirement is not published. I leave that cell empty.

A long campaign can pass the breeding window while the horse is still on the roster. That is a different problem from retirement, and the FAQ also says the full game does not cap the number of days you can play.
